The Manx Cat Project

Hello! This is the story of "Buddy", "Gray" ,and "Baby". My name is "Baby", I am a manx cat. I am going to tell you a little about the three of us.
We have a new page with more of my friends on it. Page 2 has "Little Cat", "Mike", and "Yoda".

BUDDY

I'll start with the oldest manx cat, his name is "Buddy". He came to live at BYRUM JIB QUARTER HORSE RANCH a few years ago. He was only 4 weeks old and was raised on a bottle with Kitten Replacer Milk. He finally was weaned from his bottle at about 8 weeks old. He was a BIG BABY!He is cream and yellow colored and has a small stump for a tail. "Buddy" was going to live in the Horse Barn. However, when he was about 3 months old, he was playing with the horses, and one of them stepped on his foot. It scared him so bad, that the "humans" decided to let him live in the house. He was not barn cat material! Why the big nut even used to let the horses pick him up by the ears, that is until they stepped on his foot. "Buddy" loves to watch T.V. he especially likes Football and M*A*S*H. He usually lays upside down in a chair or on the bed to watch T.V. He does NOT like the telephone or answering machine. He often deleates messages from the answering machine, or "answers" the phone and leaves it off the hook!
12/2002 Update: Buddy has discovered the computer and internet web surfing. Sometimes he tries to help his human type on the keyboard. This often makes the human get upset, since "Buddy" usually hits the DELETE key and causes the human to lose information that was typed.

BUDDY

Don't bother me, I'm going to watch T.V.

GRAY

The photo below is "Gray". He is my Uncle. He's also "Buddy's" Uncle. He was brought here to live when he was 6 weeks old.Gray is dark grey with black tiger stripes. He also has some white on his chest and face. He does not have even a stump of a tail. Gray lives in the Horse Barn. He catches mice and birds. He also digs up moles. He likes to play with the "barn dog" and he is starting to like me! Gray plays with the chickens. He does not kill them, only Sparrows. I don't know how he knows the difference in a chicken and a Sparrow, I can't tell them apart. Gray likes to sleep up in the top of the hay. He also likes to walk around in the rafters! WOW, that sure is high up.
UPDATE 12/2002 GRAY has been missing for over a month. The humans looked all over and called lots of places, no one has seen GRAY. We miss him.

GRAY
Hey, would you like a sparrow?

Pay Attention

Listen to me, I'm telling our stories!

BABY

Now about me! As I told you in the beginning, my name is "Baby". I was brought here to live when I was 8 weeks old. My mom is also "Buddy's" mom. I am cream color with brown stripes on my legs, and brown markings on my ears and face.I don't have any part of a tail either. I like to run and play in the barn. When I get bigger, I am going to hunt with my Uncle Gray.
8/2000 Update: I am now hunting with Uncle Gray! I help him catch moles and mice. I have finally figured out how to walk the barn rafters....without falling. I only fell a couple of times when I was learning. Once I fell through the ceiling insulation over the horse feed area. WOW! Was that a scary fall..luckily a human was just below me and made sure I was OK. I also have learned how to climb a HUGE tree and climb back down. Last spring I climbed a really tall tree...I got scared and was stuck pretty high up in the branches. Well my humans found me, and one of them climbed a tall ladder..then climbed up in the tree branches to rescue me. What would I do without my humans?
10/2002 Update: I am still catching mice and birds. I have a new sister living with us. She has been here for over a year. Her name is "Little Cat".
I also have a couple other manx kittens living with us. I'll have to start a new page for all these kids!
The day I was brought to my new home.
